Tasting at Beer Run
Tasting at Beer Run

Albemarle CiderWorks will be tasting their award winning Virginia craft cider at Beer Run next Wednesday, September 18th. Ciderist Chuck Shelton will be on hand to introduce the just-released “Gold Rush” a single varietal cider that clocks in at 10.4%ABV.  We have created a drink for the occasion that will be available all evening called a “Wolfbite” - half Albemarle CiderWorks Gold Rush cider and half Wild Wolf’s Alpha Ale. Come sample some cider and try a Wolfbite!!!

WolfBite:

Albemarle CiderWork’s Gold Rush cider makes an excellent version of the traditional “snakebite” (½ cider ½ lager) when  combined  with the balanced  floral citrus hoppiness of Wild Wolf’s Alpha Ale, their flagship American pale ale . The  rich honey and  tart ginger and grapefruit notes complement the  Citra, Columbus and Cascade hops used in the Alpha Ale. As they say” keep it fresh keep it local”!

Tasting at Wine Warehouse
Tasting at Wine Warehouse

Cville Cider Fans, take note: Albemarle CiderWorks tasting at Wine Warehouse tonight, 4-7 pm.  If you haven't yet visited this purveyor of all things cider, wine, and beer, check it out!  Here's what they have to say about our ciders:

On Friday we will be pouring four ciders from Albemarle CiderWorks, including two of their most recent creations (Red Hill and Pomme Mary) and premiering their brand new single varietal, Gold Rush, from 4-7pm. If you have not tried any of the CiderWorks ciders before, they are the most distinctive and most uncompromisingly natural tasting ciders out there. You don't get just the sweet pulp of the apple in the glass; it's the whole apple orchard here, with skins, leaves, and even the dessicated fruit on the ground, coming out in every sip. They also take great care in showcasing the distinct flavors of each apple variety, so you get complexity well beyond the typical dry/off-dry/sweet flavors to the diversity usually reserved for wine tastings. These are not 'easy' ciders built to appeal to the broadest possible market. They are built to express the singularity of true heirloom apples and the best of recent cultivars. Those of you who enjoy great local artisan foods and wines should not miss this opportunity."

New Cider Release Party!
New Cider Release Party!

Kick off the changing of the seasons with Albemarle CiderWorks!

Saturday, September 21st we are releasing our two newest cider bottlings, with flavors just right for pairing with the bounty of Autumn.  One of our classic ciders – Old Virginia Winesap – will be making a much-anticipated return to the lineup, accompanied by a brand new single varietal made with the modern Gold Rush apple.  The Gold Rush apple, introduced from Purdue University in 1993, has seen a tremendous boom in popularity due to its sweet-tart flavor profile and fresh, firm texture.  We’ve fermented this single varietal into a clean, dry cider with a crisp acidity and overtones of grapefruit.

Saturday, September 21st from 11-6 pm we will be rolling out the new ciders just in time for the start of Fall.  Come by for a tasting of all 6 Albemarle CiderWorks ciders, and hang out with a picnic basket of treats tailored to pair with each of these delightfully different styles of cider.  Enjoy games in the field and live old-time music by Alex Caton and Dick Harrington, from their recently released album Swimming to Lindsey, 3-5 pm on the patio rain or shine.  There will also be an array of heirloom apples, tree-ripened in our orchard and ready to taste and take home.

11:00 am to 6:00 pm

Alex Caton and Dick Harrington Live at Albemarle CiderWorks

Alex Caton and Dick Harrington play tunes from their latest cd release "Swimming to Lindsey," featuring traditional old time music.  Acoustic and live, 3-5 pm, rain or shine

“An old-time fiddler, singer-songwriter and banjo player,” Alex’s renditions of folk and Irish reels, jigs, and ballads evoke the spirit of our Appalachian setting.  Bring a friend, grab a picnic, and relax.
