Build A Scarecrow Day!Build A Scarecrow Day!
Build a Scarecrow Day is a day to celebrate a unique and fun tradition that is celebrated each year in the US. In 1390 children were sent into the field to scare off any birds trying to eat the freshly sown seeds using a stick with a sack on the end. Now we present you with a great opportunity to get together with members of our community and celebrate the coming of autumn and the changing of the seasons. Join us on July 5th by creating a scarecrow of your very own. We will provide the framework for the scarecrow, the stuffing and the sack (for its head). Just bring along some old clothes (or maybe a superhero outfit) and get stuffing. It costs $15 for the materials and at the end of the day you will have a special human shaped figure to scare the birds away! Scarecrows are typically made with old clothes, so please bring an old shirt and trousers as a minimum requirement, you may want to bring gloves, boots, a hat or even something to give them facial features. Just make sure to prebook a spot >>> Here <<< as the framework for the scarecrows will be subject to availability.

Live Music in the Orchard: Willie DELive Music in the Orchard: Willie DE
Come join us, sip cider & enjoy some music. Willie DE, a nationally touring young artist based in Central Virginia, blends blues, jazz, and rock (mostly rock!) to create a fresh, original sound. Growing up on Bob Dylan and Van Morrison, he busked on Charlottesville’s downtown mall and outside football games in Charlottesville performing original material and most anything the crowd asked for. At the age of 13 he formed a band called The Wave. The young band’s success landed them at major festivals like Floydfest where the group took the Main Stage in 2011. The Wave recorded two full albums and one EP worth of Willie’s original rock songs.

Grab a glass and join us for live music by Mojo Pie! Mojo Pie was created when Susan Munson invited Frank Bechter to a songwriters workshop, and they've been bringing harmonies to wineries, restaurants and events in Central Virginia ever since. Both have been featured artists in Charlottesville's First Night Virginia and Jason Burke's Six-Pack Songwriter Series, and they make up 2/3 of the acoustic trio Oh Wow, Boy! Susan also rocks many a stage with Alligator, Jeebus, and Mama Tried, as does Frank with Das Homage, The Good Guys, and Her Checkered Past
