Sip cider and read in quiet camaraderie. No assigned reading, no obligations. Bring your own book of choice.
This is our first-ever evening Silent Book Club! Same cozy situation as our other reading sessions, but this time with candlelight & (with luck) a stunning sunset. We'll have the entire cidery to spread out, since this is an after-hours event. This event is free to attend, no tickets required
A few notes since this event will be around dinnertime:
- Albemarle CiderWorks offers charcuterie, cheese, bread & pretzel nuggets, but outside food is also welcome
- This event is "quiet" but not truly silent. We play gentle background instrumental music, people turn pages & sometimes eat chips. If you want true silence, it may be wise to bring headphones or earplugs
From the official website of Silent Book Club:
"At Silent Book Club, there's no assigned reading. All readers are welcome - ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books... it's BYOBook. Friends and strangers gather at a set time and location, order food or drinks, share what they're reading, and settle in for an hour of silent, sustained reading. At the end of the hour, attendees can socialize - or not! "
Schedule:
5:30-ish Arrive early to order food/ drinks/ chat
6-7 pm Read in quiet camaraderie
7-7:30 pm: Mingle (optional!) No organized discussion or Q&A, but people tend to linger & chat about their books. We all have different books, so you may get some great recommendations.
You can read about the experience in Cville Weekly's "Tried it in Cville Column" thanks to talented local journalist Kristie!
